Church of the Firstborn
This term does not specifically refer to every member of the Church of Jesus Christ, but to those who ultimately will be exalted. President Joseph Fielding Smith taught: "To become a member of the Church of the Firstborn, as I understand it, is to become one of the inner circle. We are all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by being baptized and confirmed, and there are many who seem to be content to remain such without obtaining the privileges of exaltation." (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, 3 vols., edited by Bruce R. McConkie, vol. 2, p.42.)
To avoid doctrinal confusion, it would be better not to include the references to D&C 76:94 and D&C 93:22 in this endnote.
